Description
Mersis is a vase inspired by deep divers. The lines engraved with the cut decoration technique become fainter as they enter the water and disappear at the bottom.
Matthieu Girel is an independent product designer based in Lausanne. Girel, who graduated from the Applied Arts and Ecole Cantonale D’art De Lausanne (ECAL) Industrial Design Departments in France, has been working as an assistant in EPFL/ECAL laboratory industrial design courses since 2012. Girel, who has been running his own design studio since 2013, works on different projects from products to furniture, accessories and scenography. Inspired by science fiction, geometry and craftsmanship, he has created creations for industrial brands such as Alessi, limited pieces for the Nob gallery and large-scale scenographies such as Vevey Images. Girel, who was recently nominated for the Design Preis Schweiz and Swiss Design Award with his “hypercollection”, continues to collaborate with other designers.
