Description
In Anatolia, containers, tools and figurines of various forms and features have been made from terracotta materials since the Neolithic Period. Masks constitute an important group among these figurines. Masks that create a sense of secrecy in people have been made of different materials over time, using terracotta, fiber, ivory, bone, feather, leather, paper and horn. It is known that in ancient times, masks were used for purposes such as keeping away evil, protecting from diseases and symbolizing the gods. Neolithic masks were made in different ways depending on their functions. Among these, it was thought that the samples made without leaving a mouth or eye space would protect the place where they were hung and give confidence to that place when hung on a wall or anything else.
“Mask” products are produced for decorative use. It is recommended to clean the product by wiping it with a damp cloth.
